Saint Jean Cap Ferrat has long been the playground of the rich and famous. This lovely area, located in Southeastern France, is a perfect holiday destination and home to some of the most exclusive and exquisite pieces of real estate in all of Europe. Cap Ferrat has a long and colorful history that goes back to times of antiquity. However, Cap Ferrat came into prominence in the early 20th century when it became a self-standing community and a second home to some of the most famous celebrities in the world. Today, the breath taking Cap Ferrat still features some of the most expensive pieces of real estate in the world and a booming tourist industry. One of the best features of Cap Ferrat is its pleasant Mediterranean climate. The summers are nice and warm, while the winters are relatively mild. The entire town is built to impress and you will find that Cap Ferrat is both friendly and inviting.
The beaches, which include the Cro de Pin, the Paloma and the Passable are, undoubtedly, Cap Ferrat's crown jewels. The serene beauty of these spotless beaches will amaze any visitor here. Adding to the natural beauty is the fact that motorways do not extend too far towards the coast, instead you find long and winding cycle paths. If you really want a quiet day, then a simple stroll along the ocean is the way to go. Another excellent spot is the Le Zoo Parc Du Cap-Ferrat; this amazing zoological garden is open throughout the entire year. It features over 300 varieties of plants, including eucalyptus trees that are over a century old.
Culture and nature go hand in hand here, and no visit to Cap Ferrat will be complete without a visit to its cultural and historical landmarks. The most important of which is the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. This is an Italian style villa built in the early 20th century and is famous for its seven gardens that are designed in different styles. If you are visiting during the summer, then you must drop by for the Les Azuriales Opera Festival, which has been hosted annually since 1997. Another important place to visit is the St. Hospice chapel. The chapel is famous for its bronze statue of Madonna and Child, and is home to a World War I military cemetery.
The local cuisine is based mainly on seafood but meat is also very popular. Head over to some of the finest restaurants in Cap Ferrat, such as the Le Sloop or the Le Panorama to dip your taste buds in culinary paradise.
Transportation is not a problem here, the primary mode of transportation is either by bus or train. However, Cap Ferrat is a place that can only be truly enjoyed by foot. To take in the wonderful art and architecture of the city, the best thing to do would be to embark on a long, relaxing stroll through the town.
When it comes to villas in Cap Ferrat, you will find yourself in an ever-dwindling market due to the extreme popularity and recent surge in demand. Luxury villas rarely stay long in the market and it is advisable to get one as soon as the opportunity arises.
